Theme: Punky Women
A face not yet that well-known, but with that cool attitude and distinctive voice, that would soon change, surely... However, this design ain't about Shirley. Instead, it captures Debbie Harry at 30 — punk icon, future legend — her face in frame, and on the cusp of international stardom, in bold pink and a dark yellow-some might say orange- that is, once again, a nod to the Sex Pistols. Not quite their yellow but, then again,Debbie and the boys were true originals. I guess John and the boys were ,too. By the way, I do a lot of nodding to the Sex Pistols' yellow and pink aesthetic. The designer of the their 'Never Mind...' album was Jamie Reid. I really like the mix of those two colours. But Blondie were never justpunk. They were bigger, glossier, more elastic. Which, in its own way, is still pretty punk. What is punk, anyway? The text reads Thirty Harry — a sly spin on Dirty Harry — with a tilted second line: Do you feel lucky, punk? A reference to Clint Eastwood, sure, but also another, knowing nod to Blondie’s big break just around the corner. It’s about timing, transformation, and the art of arriving just when the world is ready — or maybe when you're ready to make it listen. Bold colours capturing the imminent arrival of one of New York's finest-just needed a bit more time to get those lines parallel. Picture that, if you will. This year(2025) saw the passing of Clem Burke. Rest In Peace. Great drummer and an integral member of Blondie...and also played briefly with The Ramones and The Eurythmics.
