This design takes one of Manchester’s most iconic exports — Joy Division — and reimagines it through a different lens: the band's name rendered in Arabic script, their most enduring lyric stamped across a black-and-yellow canvas, the very colours of Manchester. On the surface, it’s a celebration — of cross-cultural connections, of shared sounds, of Manchester’s global reach. But look again. “Love Will Tear Us Apart” isn’t just a song. In this context, it becomes something else — a question. Can we really build bridges across languages, cultures, identities… or are we fooling ourselves? Is the fear that “the other” might tear apart a carefully built sense of Britishness valid, or is it the fear itself doing the damage? I don't have the answer but I do know that the UK is full of wonderful people , including those who sometimes ask uncomfortable questions. Anyway, the design is Manc, It’s modern and it's a definite conversation starter.
